Highway 1 Channelization Quality Resorts of America - Orick, CA

Schlumpberger Consulting Engineers completed the design for a left lane channelization project on Highway 1 near Stone Lagoon. The project entailed a widening of the highway including vertical and horizontal curves for high-speed channelizing, and environmental concerns with a creek crossing and elk habitat. The project also required the use of Caltrans highway design review and approvals with all drawing dimensions using metric units. The project required a familiarity with the Caltrans Highway Design Manual and a working relationship with the Eureka Caltrans office.
